Police treating man's death as homicide

Will County sheriff's police say the murder of an 85-year-old Crete Township man may have been the result of a robbery that went wrong.

The body of Alfred Hilton was found Wednesday in his Crete Township home after he failed to show up for a church-sponsored function held earlier in the day. A friend went to Hilton's home to check on him and discovered his body inside the residence. The friend contacted the sheriff's office.

The victim lived alone in the home, which had been ransacked.

Will County Sheriff's Deputy Chief Ken Kaupas said Friday several items were missing from the house. He added no arrests have been made in the case.
