DuPage County man charged in mortgage scheme

A 36-year-old DuPage County man and a Chicago woman are facing federal mortgage fraud charges stemming a yearlong undercover FBI sting.

George Dravilas, who lives in an unincorporated part of DuPage County near Bloomingdale, is accused of selling apartments on Chicago's South Side for inflated prices and kicking back $100,000 to undercover straw buyers after submitting fraudulent mortgage documents that secured federal loans.

Dravilas and 40-year-old Chicago resident Bridget Hutcherson were arrested Tuesday, prosecutors said. Hutcherson is accused of supplying fake documents to support loan applicants for the undercover buyers for $600.

If convicted, the pair face a maximum of 30 years in prison.
