Schaumburg stepping up traffic enforcement

The Schaumburg Police Department will be conducting special Memorial Day traffic safety enforcement details through Monday, May 26, the department announced this week.

Funding for these extra details is being provided by a grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation's Sustained Traffic Enforcement Program. The effort is being conducted in conjunction with the national "Click it or Ticket" campaign.

The campaign will consist of nine enforcement dates. Officers will be hired back on an overtime basis paid for by the grant so as not to interfere with normal police operations.
