Family Visitation Center open house:

The Family Visitation Center of Lake County, operated by A Safe Place, hosts an Open House on Tuesday, May 20, from 4 to 6:30 p.m. The event will include tours of the facility at 541 N. Lake St. in Mundelein, and awards will be presented to two volunteer groups at 6 p.m. Honorees will include the Book Bridge, a literacy support nonprofit in Grayslake, and educators from Big Hollow Elementary District 38 in Ingleside, who donated their time and created a mural in the visitation room. The center, which opened in October 2010, is the only court-affiliated supervised visitation and exchange center to support parents and children with a history of domestic violence and high conflict. Services include on-site supervised visitation and a safe, conflict-free location to exchange custody of children.
