St. Charles Swim Team's 24-Hour Swim to support sick kids

How far would you go to help another kid?

The St. Charles Swim Team will answer this question on Saturday, May 17, as they kick off their 24-Hour Swim.

This inaugural event is part of a five-year pledge to support the western suburbs first Ronald McDonald House, scheduled to open in the winter of 2015.

Jon Cabel, co-head coach, says, "The St. Charles Swim Team is a community program, we believe our swimmers should give back to a community that has supported them for over 25 years. Kids helping kids is a great way to give back. The Ronald McDonald House helps children at an important time in their hospital stay by allowing families to be there with them. SCST is a family supporting kids, what a great match."

Proceeds from the swim will be shared by the team, and the new Ronald McDonald House located near the Cadence Health Central DuPage Hospital campus.

More than 300 swim team members, their friends and families will swim for 24 hours starting at 9 a.m. at Norris Recreational Center, 1050 Dunham Road, St. Charles.

Donations can be directed to St. Charles Swim Team Parents Association at the Norris Center. Questions concerning the event can be directed to Anne Mason at masonfamily@att.net or Paula Myhre at prmyhre@gmail.com.
