Pet walk fundraiser in Lake Villa

The Animal Hospital of Lake Villa hosts a pet walk fundraiser called "A Day with the Dogs" at Frank M. Loffredo Park near Lehmann Mansion, from 1 to 5 p.m., May 31. Proceeds benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and four local pet rescues - Haven at the Inn, Cast-A-Way Pet Rescue, Petropolis, and Midwest Beagle Rescue. The event is free and open to the public. Attendees can pledge $25, which includes the walk through the park, a T-shirt, food, face painting and tickets for donated raffle prizes. But you don't need to pledge to join the fun - entrance to the event is free and any money spent on food, games, face-painting and raffle tickets goes to the charities. There will be musical entertainment. The park at 485 N. Milwaukee Ave., Lake Villa, also features a skate park, basketball court, football field, disc golf course and playground for smaller children.
