SPRINGFIELD - The farmers market at the Illinois State Fairgrounds has opened for business with a record 36 vendors registering.

Markets will be held each Thursday evening through Oct. 16, except during the Illinois State Fair in August.

The Illinois Products Farmers' Market is located in the Commodities Pavilion.

Physicians from sponsor Springfield Clinic will offer market goers health screenings and programs on nutrition and fitness.

Besides fresh produce, the market also has live music, cooking demonstrations and children's activities. There will also be featured wineries and food trucks each week.
