Motive for releasing Sterling remarks?

The reporting of Donald Sterling's bigoted remarks did not seem to have fair coverage in the media. Mr. Sterling made a handsome living off a team that is mostly made up of African-American players and was often spotted with a young girlfriend largely of African-American ancestry at his team's games.

It appears that he was secretly entrapped into making those crude comments by this very same girlfriend without his prior knowledge and the tape leaked to the media outlets. The question not brought up is just what was her motive for recording him secretly and releasing the tape to the public. Was it vindictive in nature?

While Sterling is highly skilled in making money, he somewhat woefully lacks social skills. He apparently does not believe that what you say publicly will not come back to haunt you later one way or the other.
