Do more for Illinois, Sen. Durbin
Sen. Dick Durbin has supported the removal of food and fuel from the CPI inflation index. So the Social Security recipients will not get the cost-of-living break they deserve. The price of beef is up 25 percent this year, gas is over $4 and food prices have doubled during his last term. He supports government subsidies on ethanol, which have doubled the price of corn and echoed the increase in all the food prices. This increase in corn prices has led to an increase in world hunger.
Senator, how is the raising of the minimum wage going to help black teens, 90 percent of whom are unemployed? Why not have the increase apply to those above age 25, like some Republicans proposed, so companies can take the risk on a untried teen?
Senator, what have you done for Illinois? Why are we one of lowest states for getting back the tax dollars you took from us?
