Dundee-Crown announces 2014 Hall of Fame class

The Dundee-Crown High School Athletic Hall of Fame announced five new inductees on Wednesday night. They will be enshrined at the Hall of Fame's annual induction ceremony Sept. 20 at Golf Club of Illinois.

The 2014 Hall of Fame class includes:

•Peter Margiotta, a 1978 Irving Crown graduate who competed in wrestling, football and track and went on to wrestle at Southern Illinois and Eastern Illinois.

•Max Kipfer, a 1975 Dundee graduate who played baseball and basketball for the Cardunals before going on to play basketball at Valparaiso University.

•Ronald Schumacher, a 1941 Dundee alum who played basketball and baseball and then played both sports at Northwestern.

•Steve Grotemeyer, a three-sport athlete at Dundee who graduated in 1966. He played football, basketball and baseball and then was a catcher in the New York Yankees' organization from 1966-70.

•Mike Lukowski, a 2008 Dundee-Crown graduate who was a 2008 IHSA state wrestling champion. He also played football for the Chargers then was a member of Harper College's 2010 NJCAA national championship football team before wrestling two years at NIU.
