Hoffman Estates hosts portrayal of Bertha Palmer

The village of Hoffman Estates' Celebrations and Sister Cities commission, in conjunction with the Schaumburg Township District Library, invite the community to attend a program featuring Leslie Goddard's presentation of Chicago socialite Bertha Palmer.

Wife of real estate magnate Potter Palmer, Bertha Palmer was a pace-setting arts patron best remembered for her Impressionist collection, now at the Art Institute of Chicago. As shrewd as she was stylish, Palmer helped recoup her husband's lost fortune after the Great Chicago Fire of 1871 and served as hostess at the World's Columbian Exposition of 1893.

This historical portrayal will take place from 1 to 3:30 p.m. at village hall, 1900 Hassell Road. Reservations are required and can be made by calling (847) 781-2606 before May 14. There is no charge for attending, but a voluntary donation of nonperishable food items or a monetary donation benefiting local food pantries is appreciated.
