Girls soccer / Lake County roundup

Nicole D'Ambrose scored off an assist from Allison Vancrey with about 15 minutes left, as Lakes' girls soccer team capped an undefeated run through the North Suburban Prairie Division with a 1-0 win over visiting Antioch on Tuesday night.

Lakes (12-3, 6-0), which last won the NSC Prairie in 2010, will host Lake Zurich at 6 p.m. Thursday in the NSC championship game.

Kara Jones earned her sixth shutout of the season.

Antioch (10-7-1) finished 2-3-1 in the division.

Vernon Hills 4, Grant 1: Alexis Harte notched a hat trick for the host Cougars in the North Suburban Prairie finale.

Erin VanDemerkt also scored for Vernon Hills (11-3-2, 4-1-1), while Kristen Guglielmi had 2 assists.

Grant (6-7, 3-3), which trailed 3-0 at halftime, got its only goal from Brett Aichholzer.

Grayslake North 8, Woodstock North 0: Senior Chelsea Olson scored twice and added 3 assists, and the Knights celebrated senior night with a dominating effort in Fox Valley Conference action.

Grayslake North (9-9, 3-2) also got goals from sophomore Kelley O'Brien, sophomore Sarah Myers, senior Kelly Meyer, freshman Sydney Paez, sophomore Meghan McCue and senior Lindsey Allen. Meyer had 3 assists, as well, while junior Jocelyn Rodriguez contributed a pair of assists.

Grayslake North sophomore keeper Megan Davis made 2 saves in earning the shutout.

"Our girls did a really nice job of keeping their heads in the game and on the task at hand, despite the realization that several of our very reliable and important seniors are preparing to leave Grayslake North," Knights coach Adam DeCaluwe said. "Our seniors set the tempo of the game, as they helped lead the way both in our defense as well as our attack."

Wauconda 8, North Chicago 0: Ally Magiera, who usually tends goal, got to show off her footwork in the field, and the sophomore responded by scoring a pair of goals in the North Suburban Prairie finale.

Wauconda (7-6-1, 4-2) also received goals from Jackie Lung, Diana Guzick, Kira Ziolkowski, Aimee Berg, Bree Brzostowski and Alyssa Stepanian. It was the first goals of the season for Berg and Brzostowski. Lung, Ziolkowski, Natalie Thompson and Emma Lewandowski all had assists for the Bulldogs.

Lauren Mantas had 3 saves in earning the shutout.

Lake Forest 2, Stevenson 1: Taylor Spula scored for the host Patriots in the North Suburban Lake finale.

Megan Petrick and Nicole Glait set up Spula's goal, which came with Stevenson (3-10-2, 1-3-2) trailing 2-0 in the second half.

Lake Forest finished 4-2 in the division.
