Hawthorn Woods man accused of child solicitation

A Hawthorn Woods man is held in Lake County jail on $100,000 bail after being charged with three counts of indecent solicitation of a child.

Ryan J. Horn, 25, of the 0-100 block of Park View Lane, posted an online ad seeking a companion on May 2, Lake County Sheriff's Sgt. Gianni Giamberduca said Tuesday.

Horn began communicating with someone he thought was a 14-year-old boy, but who was actually a sheriff's office cybercrimes unit detective, Giamberduca said.

Horn asked for a meeting about 10:30 a.m. May 5, Giamberduca said, but instead encountered sheriff's detectives.

Giamberduca would not say where the meeting took place.

Horn was arrested and later confessed to detectives that his intentions were to meet with the 14-year-old to engage in sexual activities, Giamberduca said.

He was charged with three counts of indecent solicitation. He is scheduled to appear in Lake County bond court on May 7.
