Dolezal dominant in Barrington win

Barrington junior Keenan Dolezal tied her season-high of 14 strikeouts while tossing a 2-hitter in a 5-0 shutout over visiting Rolling Meadows on Monday at the Fields of Dreams.

Maddie Morgan led off the game with a base hit to left and the only other hit by Meadows (4-16, 1-7) came with two outs in the top of the seventh on a single to right by Grace Skorin.

Dolezal (16-7) retired 20 in a row after Morgan's hit. Dolezal did not walk batter and hit one.

"Keenan really threw well," said Barrington coach Perry Peterson. "She had command of all her pitches."

Katie Dehnert (3-for-4, double, 2 RBI), Erin Ward (2-for-3, 2 doubles, 1 run) and Jen Inamoto (triple) sparked the offense for the Fillies, who improved to 17-8 and 7-2 in the Mid-Suburban West.

Elk Grove 12, Hoffman Estates 0 (6 inn.): Shannon Taucher belted a 3-run homer in the first inning for the visiting Grenadiers (19-4, 7-2) while teammates Becca Maher and Brooke Barges each doubled.

Gina Cirrincione, Taucher, Aleece Duffy, Alex Masnica and Abbey Sloan all went 2-for-4 for the Grens while senior Megan Eul improved to 13-2 on the mound.

Hawks pitcher Tracy Osimowicz (8-2) and Kajal Dalal had the hits for the home team (11-10, 3-6).

Fremd 11, Wheeling 0 (5 inn): Fremd senior second baseman Tracy Welninski (1-for-3, 2 RBI) belted her sixth homer of the season, a blast that easily cleared the left field fence.

Vikes shortstop Leigh Farina also hit her first homer of the season while going 3-for-3 with 4 RBI.

Abby Iuorio (2-for-3), Alyssa Garcia (2-for-3, 2 RBI triple) and Kayla Kaufman (2 doubles) were other key hitters for the host Vikings (14-7, 6-3).

Joanna Josten (10-5) notched the win with 6 strikeouts in 3 innings while Lea Barrett struck out two in the final two innings.

Nikki Mikosz went 2-for-3 with a double for Wheeling (3-17, 2-8).

Schaumburg 8, Hersey 4: Junior Shannon Felde (7-1) threw a 5-hitter and went 2-for-3 with a double and RBI for the host Saxons (15-4, 7-0).

Teammate Elaine Walker was also 2-3 with a double and RBI while Paige Alt, Christina Candotti, Jamie Kudjer (2 RBI), and Lindsay Leiber each had 1 hit,

Cassie Zouras was 2-4 with a double for Hersey (8-11-1, 2-6).

Buffalo Grove 4, Palatine 0: Emily Carnes (3-for-4, RBI), Caitlin Catino (2-for-4, 2 runs) and Cassie May (2-for-3, RBI) led visiting Buffalo Grove (13-8, 7-3) which also received an RBI from Dea Barton and winning pitcher Julia Camardo (10-4).

Camardo struck out seven and did not walk a batter in her complete against the Pirates (6-15, 2-7) who were led on offense by Nora Walsh (2-for-3) and Grace Rohrwasser (2-for-3).

Maine West 14, Maine East 4 (5 inn.): Maine West pitcher Monica Liwag struck out seven for her second win and the sophomore also went 2-for-3 at the plate with 2 doubles, 4 RBI and a run.

Grace Feldkamp (2 runs, RBI) and Kayla Pociejewski (3 runs, RBI) each went 3-for-4 for the host Warriors (9-11, 4-2) in the CSL North contest.

Fenwick 6, St. Viator 4: Pitcher Sam Hogan and Gina Mastrodomenico each had doubles for the host Lions (13-9, 3-5) in the ESCC game.
