Joe Kurucar won his second straight 1-0 decision, pitching a 1-hitter with 10 strikeouts and a walk as the Blazers (5-16, 4-11) took two of three in the West Suburban Gold series. Addison Trail, which managed only 3 hits, scored its run in the top of the third on Christian Grabowski's run-scoring single.
WW South 7, Naperville Central 4:
The Tigers (10-6, 8-3) salvaged the third game of the DuPage Valley Conference series by scoring all their runs in the fifth inning. Brett Struebing struck out 10 in a complete-game effort. Ben Flores went 3-for-4 with an RBI. Jason Wegner and Kevin Clifford had 2 hits for Naperville Central (15-7, 10-2).
Lisle 7, Seneca 6:
The Lions (13-9, 4-4) won in the Interstate Eight Conference by scoring a run in the top of the eighth inning on Kevin Coppin's RBI double. Coppin went 3-for-5 while Jake Oard had 2 RBI. Bailey Welch was the winning pitcher in relief.
Glenbard North 9, West Aurora 4:
The Panthers (13-8, 7-4) claimed the DuPage Valley Conference series victory as Nolan Jasinski, Sam Ledbetter, Gary Santos and Chris Murray all had 2 hits. Alex Barrett and Murray drove in 2 runs. Eric Orze picked up the win with 5 innings of work.
Wheaton North 6, Glenbard East 0:
Complete-game winner Zach Colangelo pitched a 5-hitter with 5 strikeouts and a walk for the Falcons (11-9, 7-4) in their DuPage Valley Conference victory. Zach Leander went 3-for-3.
Metea Valley 4, West Chicago 3:
The Wildcats (8-13, 4-12) scored twice in the bottom of the seventh but Metea Valley (12-8, 8-5) held on in the Upstate Eight Conference. Sam Hanson, Gunner Vega and Jack Szott, who drove in 3 runs, all had 3 hits for the Mustangs. Austin Kordik went 3-for-4 and Jon Michiels had 2 RBI for the Wildcats.
Willowbrook 17, Leyden 4:
The Warriors (14-5, 9-3) exploded for 11 fourth-inning runs while sweeping three West Suburban Gold games from Leyden. Tyler Vavrek and Brian Johnson had 3 hits apiece and combined for 7 RBI. Tyler Zunkel struck out six in the five-inning game.
Notre Dame 1, Benet 0:
The Dons scored an unearned run in the bottom of the fifth to pull out the East Suburban Catholic Conference win. Losing pitcher Matt Emerick allowed only 4 hits in 6 innings for Benet (13-7, 4-3).
York 3, Glenbard West 1:
Complete-game winning pitcher Seth Dvorak went 3-for-3 with a double as the Dukes (11-11, 7-5) claimed their third straight win over the Hilltoppers (13-9, 7-5). Luke Domask and Jack Sojka had 2 hits for Glenbard West.
Marian Central 6, St. Francis 4:
Jason Sullivan, Brett Whelton, Chris Smith and Will Purdom had 2 hits and Jack Ciombor drove in 2 runs, but the Spartans (14-8, 6-3) fell in the Suburban Christian Conference.
Downers South 3, Hinsdale South 0:
Winning pitcher Zac Taylor, Matt Zinnecker and Chris Pedrak had 2 hits apiece and Danny Spinuzza homered for the Mustangs (14-4, 12-0), who swept in the West Suburban Gold. Taylor struck out six in 6 innings to help top the Hornets (9-10, 7-5).
