Volunteer work day at District 76 schools

Diamond Lake Elementary District 76 partnered with Medline Industries on Saturday for projects at two Mundelein-area schools.

Medline's 8th annual Make a Difference Day project saw 500 employees, family members and friends working alongside the company's senior executives at West Oak Middle and Diamond Lake Elementary schools.

"They're revitalizing and re-energizing the school, and both the students and staff are very excited," said Sharon Aspinall, Diamond Lake School principal. "We had lots of people engaged in working together to choose colors and to choose the murals, so it was a team effort."

Volunteers worked on baseball fields, indoor and outdoor painting projects, mural designs, remodeling, planting, landscaping and cleaning.

Aspinall said that no one will enter the building until 8 a.m. Monday, when students and staff will go in together to see the results.

Mundelein-based Medline is the largest privately held manufacturer and distributor of health care supplies in the United States and one of the largest employers in Lake County.
