Grayslake history program

Three lifelong Grayslake residents will talk about three former local businesses on May 14 at 7:30 p.m. in the Grayslake Heritage Center Community Room, 164 Hawley St. Terry Norton's father, William Norton, was a truck driver for Herman Behm's, trucking business. Norton collected cans of milk from local farmers and delivered them seven days a week to dairies in Chicago. Connie Dunbar's father, E.J. Sheldon was a farm implement dealer, on Center Street and later on Seymour Avenue. Charlotte Renehan's father, Charles W. Kuebker, purchased the Grasylake Dairy from H.E. Darby in 1925. He employed local men to help him pasteurize, bottle and deliver milk, cream and eggs. The operation was on the farm that is now Grayslake's Central Park.
