A 26-year-old man is in stable condition after being shot in the chest at around 8:30 p.m. Sunday in his second-floor apartment on south Main Street in Wauconda, according to police.

Wauconda Police Chief Patrick Yost told the Daily Herald that the man's identity is not being released because the offender remains at large.

Yost said the victim was shot by one of three men who were at the victim's apartment. Yost said the victim's girlfriend and children were in the apartment when the shooting happened but were not harmed.
