No privacy, needs updating

I have a great view of the park but live along a busy road and with virtually no privacy, we find that we spend no time in our yard. My husband and I have four kids and a busy schedule. We have no time to spend fixing up our yard, but would love a private retreat for those nights that you just want to sit outside and relax outside with the family. We have an old gas grill that we have never used and needs to be removed professionally. We have a hand-me-down patio set that has seen its day. This set is on the original slab of 8-by-10 concrete that was built the same year the house was built (1970s). Hardly any landscape and a large piece of lattice is all that separates us from our passersby. We would love a patio set to hold all six of us and some privacy. Our kids love a good bonfire to sit around and share stories! Thanks for your consideration in helping our family unite!

From the experts:

To create a backyard retreat that appeals to the whole family, we suggest a larger patio area with features to suit this family's lifestyle. The large dining area fits six people easily, and is accented by a beautiful pergola to help block out the noise and distraction from the street.

A separate area with a built-in fire pit gives the kids a place to hang out with their friends and grill marshmallows. Planters and container gardens give a low maintenance way to add color and texture. And finally everything is accented by beautiful lighting that performs the functions of task, ambient, accent, and general lighting to bring the entire design to life.

This design contains in-ground LED lighting in a path around the patio, an updated coach light, an outdoor-rated chandelier and hardscape lights that accent the stonework around the patio.
