Girls soccer: Fox Valley roundup Thursday, May 1

St. Edward 2, Rosary 0: Kathleen Duffy and Chelsea Gnan notched the Green Wave goals in the first half of a Suburban Christian road win. Corey Lepoudre and Monica Ramirez each had 1 assist for St. Edward (17-2, 2-0) while goalie Paige Dykstra put together her 14th shutout with 5 saves.

Elgin 9, Westminster Christian 1: Jenny Lopez had 2 goals and 1 assist in the Maroons' nonconference win over the Warriors. "Jenny has been very solid," said Elgin coach Alicia Knoll. "We can count on her to move around to any position. She's able to do whatever is needed." Michelle Perez also scored 2 goals and Marceci Santiago chipped in a goal and an assist for the Maroons (7-7). Bopha Travis added 2 assists. Gabby Delgado, Liz Munoz, Hannah Erickson and Laine Kaehler each scored a goal while Tanya Welch and goalkeeper Hannah Demel, who stopped 5 shots, also had an assist.

Crystal Lake South 2, McHenry 0: The Gators (11-2-2) moved to 4-0 in the Fox Valley Conference Valley Division with a win over the Warriors. Audrey Collard scored unassisted and Alex Romano checked one in off a dish from Katherine Siavelis. Jaclyn Przbylski managed 3 saves.

Crystal Lake Central 4, Hampshire 1: The Whip-Purs (3-9, 1-2) watched Claudia Lazar score on an assist from Kaila Higa, but that's all Hampshire could put across in FVC Fox action. Keeper Kaila Kenzler stopped 13 of the 17 shots she faced.

Prairie Ridge 2, Dundee-Crown 0: Isabel Miranda stopped 6 of the 8 shots sent her way but the Chargers (2-7-3, 0-3) were unable to take advantage of a penalty kick in an FVC Valley loss.
