Olson's goal helps Grayslake North edge Central

Chelsea Olson scored the game's only goal, and Grayslake North's girls soccer team continued to show its defensive prowess in a 1-0 win over visiting Grayslake Central on Thursday night.

Olson scored in the first half when she knocked in a rebound of Meghan McCue's shot. Knights sophomore keeper Abby Rice made 5 saves in earning the shutout, which was the team's sixth of the season.

"Tonight we continued to show more progress as a team," Grayslake North coach Adam DeCaluwe said after his Knights improved to 8-8 overall and 2-2 in the Fox Valley Conference. "The opening 10 minutes of the game Central had us on our heels a little bit, but once we got some possession and strung a couple of passes together, we started to dictate more of the play."

Stevenson 0, Mundelein 0: Sophia Godoy had the clean sheet for Stevenson.

Mundelein is unbeaten in its last 11 games (6-0-5).

Vernon Hills 9, Round Lake 0: Kelsey Seal scored 3 goals, and Kristen Guglielmi added a pair for the Cougars in the North Suburban Prairie match.

Vernon Hills (10-3-2) also got strikes from Nathalie Orozco, Katie Brettmann, Haley Lieberman and Ashley Favia.

Kimberly Amari assisted on a pair of goals. Amy Andrea, Kaitlin Gramins, Orozco, Brettmann, Alexis Harte and Erin VanDemerkt also had assists.

Warren 2, Libertyville 1: Hayden Yunker and Katharine Schwede scored for the Blue Devils in the North Suburban Lake contest. Haylee Parker had an assist, while keeper Liz Carrano made 5 saves for Warren (8-4-2, 3-1-2).

Grant 3, Antioch 2: Jenna Pecorini scored twice and added an assist, while Meghan Murray had a goal and 2 assists for the Bulldogs in their North Suburban Prairie win.
