Funeral set in St. Charles for former Grizzlies owner

The funeral for former Memphis Grizzlies owner Michael Heisley will be Friday in St. Charles.

The team said Tuesday that a wake is planned for Thursday at Malone Funeral Home in Geneva. Heisley's funeral will be the next day at St. Patrick Catholic Church in St. Charles.

Heisley, a longtime St. Charles resident, was a billionaire businessman who bought the Vancouver Grizzlies and moved the NBA team to Memphis. He died Saturday at age 77 of complications from a massive stroke he suffered nearly 15 months ago.

Heisley sold the team to Robert Pera before the start of the 2012-13 season.
