Truck driver's death caused by heart problem

A Chicago man who died after his semi veered off the road Monday in Palatine died of heart problems, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

George L. Tsoutsos, 52, was driving on Lake-Cook Road when he veered off the road and into a ditch on Old Hicks Road about 7:30 p.m., striking a sound barrier fence, said Ben Breit, director of communications for the Cook County sheriff's office.

An autopsy Tuesday determined he died of natural causes related to heart disease and obesity - and not the crash itself, officials said.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash, Breit said, and nobody else was injured.
