Softball/Saturday's Fox Valley roundup

Huntley senior Angela Tribuzio had her batting eye seeing 20-20 Saturday against two of the top teams in the Daily Herald area.

Tribuzio belted a home run in each of the Red Raiders' wins at the Libertyville quad, a 9-7 win over No. 1 Libertyville, and a 10-1 drubbing of No. 10 Wauconda and sophomore phenom pitcher Kayla Wedl.

For the day Tribuzio went 4-for-6 with 5 RBI, while Megan Larson also had a big day for Huntley (10-7), with a home run in each game and 5 RBI.

Tanner Stone and Megan Baczewski were each 2-for-4 against Libertyville, while Michelle Caputi (2-for-3, 2B, 3 RBI) and Tamara Funke (2-for-4, 2B) also contributed to the win over Wauconda.

Haley Spannraft (7-5) earned the win in the circle over Libertyville and Kateri Conklin picked up the win over Wauconda.

Bartlett sweeps: The Hawks made it 6 straight wins by sweeping a nonconference doubleheader at Lake Park, 6-0 and 8-5. In Game 1, senior Holly Pagan fired a 4-hitter with 3 strikeouts and no walks for Bartlett. Amy Johnson (2-for-4, HR), Dana Paul (2-for-4, RBI), Kayla Haberstich (2-for-3), Alex Morales (RBI), Pagan (2 RBI), Alyssa Nowak (RBI), Katie Fornoff (2B) and Lauren Janczak (2B) each contributed to the offense. In Game 2, the Hawks (15-4) got another homer from Amy Johnson as well as 2 doubles by Morales and one from Pagan. Nowak (5-0) was the winning pitcher and Pagan picked up the save.

Jacobs 14, Grayslake Central 5: Alyssa Lach (3 RBI) and Emily Borg each hit home runs for the Golden Eagles (12-7) in this Fox Valley Conference crossover win. Sarah Murray also drove in 2 runs and Kelsey Peters scattered 7 hits to earn the win.

Streamwood splits: After falling to Romeoville 8-6 in the opener, the Sabres (2-9) came back with a 9-8 win to earn a nonconference split. Melissa Malcom and Andrea Rodriguez each had doubles for Streamwood in the opener and Kaitlyn Hedger took the loss. In the nightcap, winning pitcher Jessica Daley homered, while Hedger, Malcom and Rodriguez each doubled.

Geneva 15, South Elgin 7: Mallory Mecklenburg was 3-for-5 with a home run and Cassidy Westlund also went deep for the Storm (8-10, 2-6) in this Upstate Eight loss. Losing pitcher Paige Allen (3-for-5, 2 RBI), Brittany Koss (3-for-4) and Demi Queen (2-for-4, RBI) also contributed for South Elgin.

At Woodstock tournament: Cary-Grove went 1-2 for the day at the Woodstock tournament, losing to Conant 7-5 and Crystal Lake South 7-4 after beating Orangeville 7-0 behind a 1-hitter from Caitlyn Adams, who also had a double in the victory. Against Conant, Lisa Semro drove in 2 runs for the Trojans and Amanda DeGroote took the loss in relief. In the loss to CL South, the Trojans managed just 3 hits off Gators' freshman Sam Burgard, one of them a home run by Adams. Caroline Zasadil took the loss for Cary-Grove (9-7), while Taylor Kassel had a home run for CL South, Sam McLean a triple and Caitlin Fater a double.

Fenton 13, Westminster Christian 0: Rachel Fugiel had 2 of the Warriors' 3 hits in this nonconference loss. Becca Fugiel took the loss in the circle for Westminster (3-7-1).
