People began lining up at 3 a.m. Wednesday for the grand opening of Fresh Thyme Farmers Market, 211 W. Rand Road in Mount Prospect.

Fresh Thyme CEO Chris Sherrell joined Mayor Arlene Juracek and the Mount Prospect Chamber of Commerce for the ribbon-cutting ceremony at 6:45 a.m.

There were 350 people in line for the 7 a.m. opening, with the first 250 of them receiving a Fresh Thyme reusable bag with more than $50 worth of groceries, the company said in a news release.

Grand opening festivities continue this weekend, with a wine tasting and bottle signing featuring Karl Wente of Wente Wineries from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday. Information is at freshthyme.com.
