DeVito delivers again in Mundelein's win
Mundelein's Maria DeVito kept up her hot hitting Thursday, belting a 2-run homer in the bottom of the sixth off Kayla Wedl to lift the Mustangs to a 3-2 win in a North Suburban Conference crossover.
DeVito went 2-for-2, raising her batting average to .560. It was the junior's third home run of the season.
Brittany Woodyard had the only other hit for Mundelein (12-6) off Wedl, who struck out 11 and walked two.
Wedl gave Wauconda (14-2) a 1-0 lead in the first with a homer off winning pitcher Nicole Parney (6 strikeouts, 4 walks).
In the Mundelein sixth, Wedl walked Maddie Zazas before DeVito homered to put the Mustangs in front.
Libertyville 13, Lakes 5: Jamie Stevens went 3-for-3 with a double and 4 RBI, and Jessie Lauret was 3-for-4, as the host Wildcats won the North Suburban crossover.
Libertyville (16-2) got 2 hits apiece from Tayler Oberman (3 stolen bases), Madi Dembinski (3 RBI), Taylor Zoellick (double, 2 RBI) and Sam Hilldale.
Winning pitcher Haley Alban allowed 1 hit and no walks in 3 innings.
Lakes got a home run and 3 RBI from Chandler Mang.
Lake Zurich 6, Antioch 3: Maria Schroeder (3 RBI, stolen base), Katie Brown, Vivian Juarez (RBI, stolen base) and McKenna Larson (walk) each had 2 hits for the host Bears in the North Suburban crossover. Mallory Parsons also knocked in a run.
Katie Malek earned 1 run in 4 innings to earn the win for Lake Zurich (12-3).
