Cougars rally to stop Snappers

After trailing 7-0, the Kane County Cougars engineeed a 7-run rally in the eighth inning en route to a 10-8 win over the Beloit Snappers in Midwest League action at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark in Geneva on Thursday night.

In the eighth with the Cougars (14-6) behind 8-3, Jacob Rogers and David Bote reached on back-to-back singles. Two batters later, Jordan Hankins was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Trey Martin delivered a 2-run double and Shawon Dunston Jr. followed with an RBI single to cut the deficit to 8-6. Jake Hannemann walked and Daniel Lockhart hit a 2-run double. Yasiel Balaguert was intentionally walked, and Rogers hit a sacrifice fly to score Hannemann and give the Coguars their first lead of the game at 9-8. Lockhart scored on a wild pitch.

Tyler Bremer (2-0) earned the win in relief, working 3 innings while allowing a run on 1 hit with 6 strikeouts. Zack Godley picked up the save with a perfect ninth, highlighted by a spectacular catch from Hannemann in center field.

The Cougars host the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers for a three-game series starting today at 6:30 p.m.
