Metra BNSF trains delayed after truck hits viaduct
Trains on Metra's BNSF line are on the move again after a truck struck a bridge viaduct at Kedzie Avenue, Metra officials said.
Trains heading to Aurora stopped after the crash at about 3:25 p.m. that required inspectors to check the structural integrity of the bridge, Metra spokesman Michael Gillis said.
They started moving again around 4 p.m. once inspectors gave the OK.
Three trains were delayed up to 45 minutes, but it isn't expected to affect rush hour travel, Gillis said.
"There's probably a few trains that got out a bit late, but we should be all right for the rest of rush hour," Gillis said.
