Lindenhurst Earth Day activities:

Lindenhurst's Environmental Activity & Education Commission hosts its annual Earth Day celebration on Saturday, April 26, at 9 a.m. at the village hall/public works garage, 2301 E. Sand Lake Road. Residents can learn about environmental preservation and sustainability in a fun, family-oriented atmosphere. The day begins with a villagewide cleanup, followed by free refreshments, kids' activities, raffles and prizes, and more than 30 booths with information and giveaways. Several activities will be held such as the "nut hunt" and Flying for Kids kite fly at Slove Park. Attendees tour the police department and wastewater treatment plant and talk with members of the environmental commission. In conjunction with these activities, the Lindenhurst Park District at 9 a.m. will host a free Earth Day 5K at Millennium Park.
