Wedl in command for Wauconda

Kayla Wedl has been rolling up the K's lately.

The Wauconda pitcher has 47 strikeouts in her last three games, including 14 in a 5-0 win Monday over Vernon Hills.

Wedl, who did not allow a walk, raised her pitching record to 10-0. The Bulldogs are now 13-1 on the season.

The Wauconda offense got a spark from Haley Redmann, Taylor McCarthy and Angie Exline, all of whom smacked home runs. Redmann and Exline each had theirs in a big second inning.

Redmann also had a double, as did Jena Heck.

Wauconda, which tallied 10 hits, got 2 hits apiece out of Redmann, Wedl, Exline and Paige Motley.

Mundelein 6, Libertyville 5: Abbey Rosenow's walk-off double in the bottom of the seventh capped a 3-run rally and lifted the Mustangs, who handed the Wildcats their first North Suburban Lake loss.

Maria DeVito's 2-run double pulled Mundelein even, before Rosenow delivered her game-winning hit.

Earlier, both Rosenow and Maddie Zazas homered. Mundelein (10-5, 2-2) received 2 hits apiece from Zazas, Rosenow, DeVito and winning pitcher Nicole Parney.

Libertyville fell to 14-2 overall with its second loss in a row.

Grayslake Central 13, Woodstock North 3 (5): Grayslake Central rolled up a mind-boggling 6 home runs to get a big victory. Reagen Radke and Brittany Brown each had 2 home runs while Radke also was the winning pitcher with 6 strikeouts. The Rams are now 11-5 on the season.

Lakes 9, Grant 7: Montana Mang rolled up 4 hits and drove in 3 runs to lead Lakes to a North Suburban Prairie Division win. Chandler Mang added 3 hits for the Eagles. Grant was led by Becca Wold, who also had 3 hits.

Zion-Benton 16, Stevenson 6: Down 5-1 in the third inning, Stevenson tied the score at 6-6 in the fifth but then Zion-Benton put up 10 runs in the sixth to enact the 10-run rule and end the game. The Zee-Bees denied Stevenson coach Larry Friedrichs his 500th career win. Jordan Cortesi paced Stevenson (3-10) with 2 hits, including a double. Teammate Lexi Yonkovic also had a double.
