Geneva woman killed in motorcycle accident near Elgin

A 54-year-old Geneva woman was killed in a motorcycle accident about 3 p.m. Saturday west of Elgin on Route 20 near the intersection with Switzer Road in unincorporated Plato Township, the Kane County Sheriff's Office said in a news release issues Saturday night.

Sharon Schulz, of the 700 block of Lancaster Lane, was taken to St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin, where she was pronounced dead, Lt. Pat Gengler said in the release.

The initial investigation indicates that a 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling on east on Route 20 about 150 feet west of Switzer Road and, for an unknown reason, left the road and struck a guardrail, the release said.

Schultz was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The motorcycle was the only vehicle involved in the crash, and Schulz was the sole occupant of the motorcycle. The sheriff's office is continuing to investigate the accident.
