Lilac Time quickly approaching in Lombard

The Lilac Village's favorite time of the year is quickly approaching.

Details for the many events taking place during Lilac Time - which runs from the end of April to mid-May - are available online at villageoflombard.org/lilactime and lombardparks.org.

"It's unique because it's Lombard's way to celebrate spring and tradition," Jackie Brzezinski, administrative assistant at the Lombard Park District, said of the annual festivities.

Some highlights this year include the Little Lady Lilac Ball on Friday, May 2; the Mutt Strut 5K run and 1-mile walk on Saturday, May 17; and of course, the Lilac Parade on Sunday, May 18.

Brzezinski said the park district runs most of the activities in Lilacia Park, which is open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The park features more than 800 lilacs and 25,000 tulips.

Other organizations that help with Lilac Time events include the Helen Plum Library, the Lombard Historical Society, the Lombard Area Chamber of Commerce and the Lombard Garden Club.

For information, call the Lilac Time hotline at (630) 953-6000, ext. 6.
