SOP to just make things up

I read with amazement Judy Olsen's April 9 letter, "Confront problems on military bases."

"This administration and our commander-in-chief doesn't like the military so they are downsizing and taking away funding to help and protect this brave and voluntary military," she decries, referring to the shootings at Fort Hood. Yet another example of right wing blither that is spinning in an orbit further and further from reality.

You hate Obama? Wonderful, this is America. You can.

But somewhere in this Bermuda Trianglesque world between Fox News and the Louis Gohmerts and Sarah Palins of the world it has become somehow standard to just make things up, legitimized only by your inner hatred when you don't like it.

Not sure where Ms. Olsen gets her facts, (Rush Limbaugh or Bill O'Reilly?), but apparently somewhere that they didn't report on the Feb. 27 vote by Senate Republicans to shoot down the Veterans Health Care and Education Bill. The cost of $24 billion they said was too much. Oddly enough, that is the same amount that Ted Cruz's tantrum government shut down cost, that yielded nothing.

We put these brave young men and women through a meat grinder for the last 13 years only to have the tea partyers say we can't afford to take care of them after the fact. Meanwhile the hawk-right are indignant that we aren't sending troops to other conflict points.

Any time you point any of this out, the response is usually a mantra chant of "Benghazi, Benghazi, Benghazi." Say it enough times and one day it just might be a real scandal.

Reality is a strange thing.
