Grayslake Central ices Prairie Ridge

Cold weather, hot bats.

Theresa Curtis and Juliana Frusolone homered, and Grayslake Central's softball team pounded out 12 hits in an 11-7 win over host Prairie Ridge in Fox Valley Conference action Tuesday.

The two teams traded the lead five times.

Grayslake Central (7-5) grabbed the lead for good on Curtis' three-run homer in the fifth.

Frusolone had hit a solo home run in the fourth.

Winning pitcher Brittany Brown allowed 7 runs (5 earned) over 7 innings. She struck out two, walked three and surrendered 9 hits.

Shelby White had a two-run single and drove in 3 runs for Grayslake Central. White, Jamie Brew (double) and Frusolone (2 RBI) each finished 2-for-4. Brown went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.

Prairie Ridge got a three-run home run from Michelle O'Keefe.

Cary-Grove 11, Grayslake North 1: Sarah Littleton went 2-for-2 with an RBI for the visiting Knights in the Fox Valley Conference game, which lasted five innings.

Kayla Switalla doubled for Grayslake North.

Cary-Grove got home runs from Grace Pilz, Sarah Purpura and Brianne Prank.
