Piotrowski powers Prospect

Mike Piotrowski homered, drew 3 walks and drove in 4 runs to lead an explosive Prospect offense in a 13-9 victory over Maine West in nonconference baseball on Friday.

Trey Compton had 2 triples for the visiting Knights, who finished with 11 hits. Jack Courtney, Patrick Donhonue and Piotrowski had 2 hits apiece, and Compton finished with 3 as Jim Kennedy and Nick Rodriguez split the pitching duties for Prospect (6-1-1).

Maine West (2-5) also had a nice day at the plate, as Eric Outlaw doubled and drove in 2 runs in the Warriors' 13-hit attack.

Notre Dame 2, Fremd 1: The host Dons tied it with a run in the bottom of the sixth inning and won it with another in the seventh in nonconference play.

Anthony Douvris was sharp through 5 innings for Fremd (5-2), striking out nine and allow no runs on 4 hits.

Naperville Central 5, Hoffman Estates 1: Glenn Kozlowski threw a complete game 2-hitter to earn the win for the Redhawks, who got 3 hits from Bob McMillen.

Brad Demmon drove in a run, and Ethan Bloom and Keegan Mugerditchian had singles for the Hawks (3-3-1).

Glenbrook South 9, Rolling Meadows 4: Erik Schurtz went 3-for-4 and Sean O'Brien was 2-for-3 with a walk, but the visiting Mustangs couldn't match Glenbrook South's run production in nonconference play.

Alex Niecikowski suffered the loss, but only 3 of the 8 runs he allowed through 3⅓ innings were earned.

Leyden 20, Proviso East 2 (5): Jacob Nunez finished 3-for-3 with 3 RBI and 3 runs scored to lead the Eagles' WSC Gold victory.
