No injuries as plane leaves runway at DuPage Airport

The call came in about 4:10 p.m., but most fire department units were told they were no longer needed at the scene before they even arrived.

Firefighters said a plane apparently skidded off a runway, but no one was injured or needed to be taken to a hospital. A call to the DuPage Airport Authority was not immediately returned.

A West Chicago fire truck that responds to crashes remained on the scene about 5:30 p.m., standing by as the DuPage Airport Authority removed the plane and returned it to the runway.
