Step up enforcement of new cell phone law

I am not running for governor, have no intention to ever run for governor and I never want to be the governor. But I can resolve the financial crisis in Illinois with one very simple solution. Enforce the hands-free cellphone laws and increase the fine to $500 per instance.

The abuse of this law is out of control. While driving on Route 53/I-355 several times last week, I witnessed 13 people texting - while driving on an expressway - and 33 talking on their phones. That's a quick $23,000 for the state.

Having once been hit by a goof that was texting and ran a red light, I am obsessed with enforcing this law. Our law enforcement officials should be as well.
