Hoffman Estates handles Lake Park

Keegan Mugerditchian drove in 3 runs with a pair of hits, and Brad Demmon doubled and drove in 2 runs as Hoffman Estates picked up an 8-4 victory against Lake Park in nonconference baseball Thursday.

Ethan Bloom tossed a complete-game victory for the Hawks, allowing 9 hits but only 1 earned run with 3 strikeouts.

Zak Lewandowski had 2 hits for Hoffman Estates, and leadoff man Trevor Pye went 1-for-3 with 2 walks.

Prospect 3, Jacobs 1: Tom Flahaven had a double to drive in the winning run and also had a solo homer to help the host Knights pick up a nonconference victory.

Lucas Karz accounted for Prospect's other run with a home run.

Jordan Fedro was strong in a complete-game victory for Prospect, allowing 5 hits and an earned run.

Glenbrook South 11, Wheeling 1: Wildcats pitchers allowed 10 hits but the defense did them no favors, committing 7 errors in a nonconference loss.

Christian Hubbard had a pair of hits for Wheeling, and Brenden Spillane and Jake Jordan doubled.

Christian Liberty 11, IMSA 1 (6): Freshman Aaron Rot limited IMSA to 1 hits to earn the victory as Christian Liberty played error-free defense and delivered 10 hits, including doubles by Brendan Brosnan and Tenyu Aikawa, and a triple by Dylan Antonides.

Fremd 4, Stevenson 0: Fremd's Dan Pinderski kept the visiting Patriots under control as the Vikings picked up a nonconference win. Tom Austin had a double, one of 6 hits for Fremd.

Carmel 9, Palatine 8: The Pirates let one get away as Carmel scored 6 runs in its final at-bat to swipe a nonconference win.

Joe Santoro homered and doubled twice, driving in 3 runs to lead the Corsairs.

Shane Devero led Palatine's 7-hit effort with a pair of singles.

Nolan Gavin pitched well through 6 innings for Palatine, allowing 1 earned run and 5 hits with 6 strikeouts.

Cary-Grove 5, Barrington 4: The host Trojans scored once in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings.

Barrington jumped back in front with a run in the top of the eighth before Cary-Grove scored twice in the bottom half to claim a nonconference win.

Shane Yorton went 3-for-3 with a homer and a double and drove in 2 runs for Barrington. Anthony Lombardi had 2 hits, including a triple. Daniel Kubiuk suffered the loss in relief.

St. Viator 12, Buffalo Grove 5: Matt Darling doubled twice to pace an 11-hit effort by the Lions, who also managed to draw 8 walks in a nonconference triumph.

Ron Bailitz pitched 3⅓ scoreless innings for St. Viator, and Mike Piet allowed 5 runs in 3⅔ innings with 6 strikeouts.

Nate D'Onofrio had 2 hits for BG, and Justin Hasek walked twice and drove in 2 runs.

Conant 3, Waukegan 1: The Cougars managed only 1 hit, but they drew 7 walks and scored 3 runs in the first inning on the way to a nonconference win. Mike Matej and Brian Polaski got the RBI for the Cougars.

Conant starter Luke Downey allowed 3 hits in 6⅓ innings with 7 strikeouts to earn the victory.

Leyden 11, Proviso West 1: Senior Brian Mackey got the victory as Leyden rolled up 11 hits, including a triple from Matt Patronski in a West Suburban Gold crossover.
