Lake Zurich tops Carmel

Matt Carmody pounded 8 kills and posted 4 blocks, and Brent Sweetwood added 5 kills, as Lake Zurich's boys volleyball team followed up its win over Stevenson by downing Carmel Catholic 25-15, 26-24 in nonconference action Thursday night.
Lake Zurich (4-4) also got 3 blocks from Jon Gaide, 12 digs from Michael Savio and 19 assists from Pat Bush.
Lakes d. Waukegan: Richard Galat hammered 12 kills, as the Eagles won the nonconference match 25-18, 25-13.
Avery Brodde had 7 kills and 8 blocks for Lakes, while Colton Jewell dished out 17 assists.
Dalton Solbrig contributed 3 kills and 10 digs for the Eagles.
Deerfield d. Libertyville: Chris Akers' 9 kills paced the Wildcats, who lost the nonconference match 25-21, 25-20.
Antioch d. Rockford Guilford: The Sequoits won 25-15, 27-25 in nonconference action, as Nathan Cielek had 9 service points, while Nathan Borries contributed 21 assists and 3 kills.
Antioch received 5 kills apiece from Lucas Winters, Troy Mayer and Ian Flately.
