Arlington Hts. planning Arbor Day celebration, art contest

The Arlington Heights Park District, Village of Arlington Heights and students from St. James Elementary School will be celebrating Arbor Day with a special event on Friday, April 25, at Recreation Park, 500 E. Miner St.

This year's Arbor Day celebration will begin with refreshments at 9:30 a.m. The festivities, including a special performance by student representatives of St. James Elementary School, a tree planting ceremony and Arbor Day speeches will begin at 10 a.m.

The Arbor Day celebration will conclude with the announcement of the winner of the Arlington Arbor Day Artist's Tree Drawing Contest. The Arlington Arbor Day Artist's Tree Drawing Contest is open to all children pre-K to 6th grade in Arlington Heights.

Three winners, in different age categories, will receive fun prizes. For complete contest rules and to download an entry form, please visit ahpd.org/parks/arbor_day_celebration/.

Entries may be dropped off at any of the Arlington Heights Park District Community Centers or the Administration Center before April 18.
