Lake County Heritage Farm Foundation to host contest

The Lake County Heritage Farm Foundation, in cooperation with the Lake County Discovery Museum, has issued a call for entries for artists ages 18 and older from Illinois, Wisconsin and Indiana.

The topic of "The Farm: Images from the Heartland" is farm scenes such as buildings, equipment, animals, farm fields, crops, and people. The art will be juried and prizes will be awarded. Work of winning artists will be displayed at the Lake County Discovery Museum, Lakewood Forest Preserve, Aug. 23 to Nov. 4.

Any original work in a two-dimensional medium reproducible by photographic process is acceptable. Computer-generated or digital art must be labeled as such. Original photography is also encouraged; giclees are not acceptable. Two-dimensional media and photography will be judged on originality of concept, technical expertise and emotional impact.

Each of the winning artists will be eligible for six cash prizes, cash grand prize for first and second, in each division (photography or two-dimensional media), and a Special Award of $250 will be given for a Lake County, Illinois, image.

Sponsors for prizes include the Liberty Prairie Foundation and Friends of the Lake County Discovery Museum.

Entries are being accepted until June 1. For prospectus, including deadline details and entry form, see www.lchff.org.
