41-year-old Huntley woman dies in crash

The woman killed in a single-car crash near Huntley Thursday evening has been identified as Cynthia L. Pauza, a 41-year-old from Huntley, the McHenry County sheriff's office announced Friday.

Police said Pauza's car, a 2006 Chrysler 300, was westbound in the 16600 block of Church Road at 5:09 p.m. when it left the road, entered a ditch, crossed a driveway and hit two trees.

Pauza was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

She was wearing a seat belt and was the only person in the car, police said.

Huntley Fire Protection District Chief Ken Caudle said rescue personnel were called to the crash site on Church Road, between Route 20 and Seeman Road, at 5:15 p.m. Autopsy information was not available early Friday from the McHenry County coroner's office.

The sheriff's office continues to investigate the crash.
