St. Viator rolls past Highland Park

Jack Napoleon drove in 4 runs and Kevin Monson 3 as St. Viator erupted for 6 runs in the first inning on the way to a 13-3 victory over Highland Park in nonconference play Tuesday.

Pete Meyer had 3 hits, including a double, to help make a winner of Lions starter George Burny, who allowed 8 hits and 3 earned runs in the 5-inning decision.

Elk Grove 13, York 6: Jake Bergbreiter and Matt Wary both had 3 hits, and the visiting Grens plated 9 runs in the fourth inning to help wrap up a nonconference win that ended after 6 innings.

Wary, Adam O'Malley and Peter Arbov each drove in 2 runs for Elk Grove.

Hersey 4, Evanston 4: Jack Warner went 3-for-4 with a run scored, but the Huskies and visiting Wildkits couldn't decide a winner through 8 innings.

C.J. Reichel and Nick Zouras doubled for Hersey. Ryan Allain allowed 3 earned runs through 6 innings, and Zouras pitched 2 scoreless innings in relief with 5 strikeouts.

Fremd 5, Glenbard North 1: Ian Bohn doubled and drove in a run, and Mack Rosman drove in 2 while solid Fremd pitching did the rest in a nonconference win in Carol Stream.

Anthony Douvris gave up 5 hits and 1 earned run with 5 strikeouts in 5 innings, while Dan Pinderski, who was credited with the victory, didn't allow a hit in 2 innings.

Notre Dame 5, Palatine 3: The visiting Dons did all their scoring in the first two innings, then made it hold up for a nonconference win.

Matt Saltess and Brad Bauer doubled for Palatine, but the Pirates had just 3 hits total. Patrick Seeberger tossed 5 scoreless relief innings in relief of Matt Trembley.

Hoffman Estates 16, Maine East 4 (6): Ethan Bloom hit a grand slam as the visiting Hawks had the bats going early and often in a nonconference victory.

C.J. Conway drove in 3 runs, while Brad Demmon, Riley Mugerditchian and Devin Willis had 2 apiece.

Demmon tossed 5 innings, giving up 1 runs on 2 hits with 5 strikeouts to earn the victory.

Schaumburg 4, Bartlett 0: Hurlers Bradley Schwind (3⅓ IP, 1 H, 7 K, 2 BB) and Jack Bellinger (3⅔ IP, 6 K, 1 BB) threw a combined 1-hitter and the Saxons scored 4 unearned runs on 4 Bartlett errors to prevail in nonconference action.

Wheeling 7, Lake Forest Academy 4: Brenden Spillane doubled and tripled as visiting Wheeling scored twice n the top of the seventh to get some breathing room in a nonconference victory to make a winner of Nathan Cooney.

Huntley 6, Barrington 5: The Red Raiders scored once in the fourth inning and twice in the fifth to overcome a 5-3 deficit in this nonconference win. Senior Tommy Kiriakopolous went 3-for-3 with a double and RBI, Brandon Altergott was 2-for-4 with a triple, RBI and run, Matt Sullivan had 2 hits and 2 RBI for Huntley (2-1-1). Brad Powell homered and drove in 2 runs for Barrington, while junior pitcher Anthony DeLaurentis absorbed the loss.
