Grant powers past Barrington

Ryan Noda and Simeon Lucas each belted home runs as Grant opened the season by defeating host Barrington 8-6 in nonconference action Monday.

Noda also had a double and drove in 3 runs, and he got the save for winning pitcher Jacob Lewis.

Stevenson 5, Loyola 0: Stevenson opened the season in dominating fashion with a shutout of visiting Loyola. Winning pitcher Mitchell Goll rolled up 5 strikeouts in six innings. He also gave up only 2 hits. Offensively, Goll went 2-for-3 with a double and 3 RBI. Willie Bourbon added a double for the Patriots.
