Two injured in Palatine crash; driver charged with DUI

Illinois State Police said two people were transported to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge early Sunday morning after a one-car crash on Route 53 in Palatine.

The crash occurred about 1:36 a.m. as the vehicle was northbound on Route 53 just south of Rand Road, according to state police. Route 53 was shut down for 25 minutes while the driver was extricated, police said.

The driver was charged with driving under the influence, said state police, who were not yet disclosing that person's name or that of the passenger.
