Jacobs sweeps Marian Central

Butler recruit Alyssa Lach hit 2 home runs and had 4 RBI to lead the Jacobs softball team to a 12-1 win over Marian Central Friday in Game 1 of a doubleheader played on the turf field at Lippold Park in Crystal Lake.

The Golden Eagles completed the season-opening sweep with a 17-2 win in Game 2.

In the opener, Kelsey Peters picked up the win for Jacobs in the circle, allowing just 4 hits with 5 strikeouts and 1 walk.

Payton Spirling was 2-for-3 for Jacobs with a double and 3 RBI and Kelsey Cummings added a double.

In Game 2, Emily Borg picked up the win in relief of Lach as the two combined to allow just 4 hits. Katie Borchert (2B, 3 RBI), Borg (2-for-3, 2B), Courtney Cotugno (2-for-3, 3 RBI), Cummings (2-for-3, 3 RBI) and Haley Lonigro (2-for-3, 2B, 2 RBI) led the offense. Sarah Murray and Mackenzie Vaughn also had RBI for the Eagles.
