Glendale Heights man faces child porn charges

A 67-year-old Glendale Heights man has been charged with seven counts of possession of child pornography following an investigation by Glendale Heights police and the Illinois Attorney General's Internet Crime Against Children Task Force.

Richard W. Harrod of the 2100 block of Whitman was taken into custody Thursday, authorities said in a news release issued Friday.

Police said their investigation was sparked by information gathered by the task force.

Officers executed a search warrant early Thursday morning at Harrod's home and investigators said they seized computer equipment that contained several files depicting child pornography.

Harrod was arrested at the scene, police said, and was being held Friday on $150,000 bond at the DuPage County jail.
