Harper College to hold nursing symposium for alumni, students

Harper College's upcoming nursing symposium features a keynote speaker who will examine the use of social media in the field.

The Palatine-based community college will host its fourth-annual symposium, open to the entire medical community, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 23.

Nancy Spector, director of regulatory innovations at the National Council of State Boards of Nursing, will deliver the keynote on how nurses can manage social media responsibly. The event also will include tours of the college's simulation hospital, panel talks and a continuing education fair.

The symposium is geared toward alumni, but current students will get a chance to interact with professionals.

"We're striving to build a strong network of alumni who can come back to see how the program has evolved over the years," Harper Nursing Director Julie D'Agostino said in a news release. "Our current students also benefit from networking and seeing where past graduates have gone."

The symposium fee is $25 and includes breakfast, lunch and materials. To register by April 16, call (847) 925-6490 or visit Harpercollege.edu/alumni. The event will be held in the Wojcik Conference Center on Harper's main campus, 1200 W. Algonquin Road.
