Sustainable farming in Lake County:

Sustainable farming and gardening in Lake County will be the topic of the Lake County Audubon Society's program at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 7, at the Libertyville village hall, 118 W. Cook Ave. Michael Sands, founder of the farm business development center, an incubator for beginning organic farmers, will discuss the challenges and opportunities of expanding local food production in Lake County. Sands is a senior associate of the Liberty Prairie Foundation in Grayslake and was a founding member of Fresh Taste, a new effort to encourage diverse local agriculture. The program is 90 minutes.
