Help for homeless veterans:

Lovell FHCC's Walk-In Center for Homeless Veterans will expand its hours to five afternoons a week beginning March 31. The center will be open 1 to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, in Building 133, Room 1D-121, at Lovell FHCC, 3001 Green Bay Road, North Chicago. During operating hours, walk-in center staff can be reached at (224) 610-1148. Outside operating hours, veterans may call (224) 588-0009 for assistance. The center, which opened last fall at the main hospital, provides homeless veterans immediate help with resources and information, including emergency housing. Social workers at the walk-in center inform veterans about housing options offered through several federal grant programs, as well as Lovell FHCC and community resources. They also assist veterans with establishing comprehensive care plans, including medical, mental health, substance abuse treatment.
